For several years now, I’ve been starting the day with warm lemon water because of its long list of health benefits. Lemon water, among many other things, detoxifies the body by giving the digestive system a kick in the morning.
Truth be told, though I need this daily detox after a summer full of travel, I’ve been looking for a way to jazz up the morning ritual and discovered that adding turmeric to lemon water not only offers a different taste, but it adds a number of other health benefits, too.

Turmeric is not only what makes mustard and curries yellow, but it’s an incredibly powerful nutritional supplement.
The Indian spice has chemical compounds called curcuminoids, of which curcumin is the most beneficial. Curcumin is an anti-inflammatory agent (helpful for arthritis among many other conditions) and an antioxidant. It also helps the body to absorb other antioxidants.
