Hooked On The White Stuff? It’s Time to Sugar Detox

In fact consuming too much of the sweet stuff not only causes us to feel more wired and worked up, it can also contribute to obesity, diabetes and heart problems.

The problem with sugar is it gives us a natural high by ­stimulating the brain to release the feel-good chemical serotonin.

But the sugar in your system also turns to glucose in the bloodstream causing the body to convert it into energy in the form of insulin. This in turn lowers your blood sugar level which can result in you feeling shaky, faint and crucially craving more sugar.
